RCE House System

RCE Now Has 4 Houses Instead of 7

Why We’re Transitioning to the 4 RCA Houses

As we continue to grow and evolve as a campus, we’re excited to share that Crippen Elementary will be transitioning from our current 7-house system to the 4 original Ron Clark Academy (RCA) houses: Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi, and Reveur.

There are a few important reasons for this change. With the opening of Highlands Elementary, we are saying goodbye to nearly 200 students. As our student population shifts, maintaining seven separate houses is no longer practical. Additionally, this change allows us to align with other schools across New Caney ISD and benefit from a house system that has been successfully replicated and supported at other campuses.

Adopting the RCA house model not only allows us to partner more closely with Ron Clark Academy but also opens up opportunities to collaborate with other NCISD campuses that use the same system. This shared approach helps create a unified culture of leadership, character, and school pride.

To ensure developmentally appropriate implementation, students in grades 2–5 will be sorted into one of the four RCA houses this year. Our PK–1st grade students will spend the year learning about all four houses and the positive character traits they represent. In the second semester of 1st grade, we’ll celebrate their official induction into a house in a special way!

Our ultimate goal is to use the house system to build community, encourage teamwork, and reinforce our SOAR expectations. Through this system, students will be recognized and celebrated for demonstrating kindness, collaboration, hard work, resilience, and strong character.

We’re excited about this next chapter for our Astronauts—and we can’t wait to watch them SOAR!
